What is a CEDIA Award?

(and why should you care?)

The CEDIA Awards began in 2006, answering a need from our growing industry to honour and highlight the sheer quality of integrated technology installed in people’s homes every year.

As CEDIA is a world-class education and training body for Home Technology, the Awards have always been about reaching the highest standards of design and installation.

Categories include Media Room, Home Cinema, Integrated Home, Innovation, and Lighting Scheme. There are now three sets of awards covering EMEA, Americas and Asia/Pacific.

Why you should care – it’s all about high standards

Every winner – indeed, every Finalist – of a CEDIA Award has demonstrated to an independent panel of knowledgeable and qualified industry experts, that they can:

• Fully understand a client brief

• Meet that brief, on time and on budget

• Adhere to key industry standards for performance, safety and reliability

• Demonstrate design flair and a creative problem solving attitude

• Create a stylish, appealing solution

• Provide comprehensive and thorough project documentation

But most important of all

• Clients must be delighted!

So, what part of that don’t you want for your project?

How we won

In September 2018 we won ‘Best Media Room’ in the CEDIA EMEA Awards – Level II is the middle cost range. This was our second project entry, having been honoured as a Finalist in 2016.

Our first ever CEDIA Award

Our project ‘Monochrome Media’ was a beautiful dual display system for a client in Gordano, near Bristol. We were particularly pleased with the media wall cabinet, as a sense of proportion and balance are maintained with the system in ‘cinema’ and ‘TV’ modes. While housing a lot of kit, the unit doesn’t dominate or overpower the space.

Owen of ConnectedWorks is the lead author on the latest RIBA-approved CEDIA CPD ‘Designing Media Rooms and Home Cinemas’ created to educate architects and design professionals on the subject.

‘This design came out brilliantly well - helped by all the research and study it took to create the CPD. Then with Matt’s engineering and lighting design, the execution was great.

I’m delighted that we won… but not completely surprised. With our two companies each bringing their best, I feel we deserved the win.’
